How can I send a user to a specific spot in my article?

You can send users to a specific spot in your article by using an anchor name. You can manually add an anchor name to any heading in ScreenSteps, or you can use the shortcut below to quickly get an anchor name while browsing your knowledge base.

You can get the anchor name from the public view of your knowledge base or the Administration area of your knowledge base.

From public view of knowledge base

  1. Hover your mouse next to a heading or a foldable section
  2. The link icon appears
  3. Click the link icon and your URL address will automatically add a "#" symbol along with the heading text. This is the anchor name.

Send a user the full URL and she will be sent directly to that heading.

If you are sending a user to a foldable section, the foldable section will automatically open up.

Copy and paste the URL with the anchor name

From Administrator area

  1. Open article preview
  2. Hover your mouse next to a heading or a foldable section
  3. The link icon appears
  4. Click the link icon

Option to copy URL

  1. Select the URL in the text field and copy it to the clipboard.
  2. Send the URL to the user and clicking on it will send her directly to that heading.

If you are sending a user to a foldable section, the foldable section will automatically open up.
