Locating Crash Logs on Windows

If you are running ScreenSteps Desktop 4.6.1 or later and the application unexpectedly quits on Windows, customer support may ask you to send a crash log in order to help our team troubleshoot the issue. This article you walk you through locating the crash logs folder and compressing a crash log file so you can send it to support.

Open Windows Explorer and paste in the path to the ScreenSteps Crash Logs Folder

Copy the following text to the clipboard and paste it into the path field in Windows Explorer. After you paste the string press the Enter key.

Locate a Crash Log File

After the folder contents appear in Windows Explorer you will see one or more DMP files.

DMP files

On Windows 11, right-click on the DMP file you would like to send and select Compres to ZIP file.

On Windows 10 or Windows 8, right-click on the file, select Send to, and then select Compressed (zipped) file.

Conmpress to ZIP

Send File to Support

You can now send the resulting ZIP file to support.
