The onboard training experience

Updated on

Now that you have your tasks documented up, it's time to prepare training activities to help your new-hires get some practice.

During training, you are focusing on two goals:

  • Giving new hires an "on-the-job" experience
  • Teaching them how to use your resources to respond throughout the day

Notice that your goal is NOT for new hires to memorize all of their tasks. Throw memorization out the window. Instead, focus on familiarization with the different events they'll experience during the day, and how they can find help in your knowledge base for responding.

Bonus! How should I document critical behaviors?

When you create employee documentation, you want your articles to be:

  1. Comprehensive
  2. Not overwhelming

We'll continue to discuss ways in which you can balance these two, but below is a video that provides some ideas on how you can use different formatting options to make your articles more user-friendly.
