What is changing?

They way that user and group permissions are handled in ScreenSteps is being changed to give you greater control over authoring and viewing permissions.

A couple of highlights include:

  • Authoring permissions can now be assigned to groups (instead of only to users)
  • Authoring and viewing permissions can be managed in the same interface
  • Authoring and viewing permissions can be controlled at the site, manual, chapter, or article levels
  • There is a new "Review only" permission to allow Subject Matter Experts the ability to review articles without being able to mange or publish them.

Which accounts will this affect?

This change will be applied to all accounts, regardless of account level.

When will this change happen?

We have not finalized a date yet, but most likely in November.

Do I need to do anything for this change to take effect?

No. You will be notified when a final date is determined. All of your settings will automatically be migrated for you. All users will continue to have the same access permissions.

Will this affect people's published sites?

No.
