Legacy Desktop Editor — What Happens When It's No Longer Supported by Your OS

Updated on

Will I still be able to use the Desktop Editor?

Yes — you can continue using the ScreenSteps 4 Desktop Editor as long as ScreenSteps continues to support the legacy Admin Center. There is no firm migration date set at this time, so there is no immediate action required on your part.

Is ScreenSteps updating the Desktop Editor for OS compatibility?

ScreenSteps will not be updating ScreenSteps 4 to maintain compatibility with future operating system versions. However, a new desktop application is in development that will work with the new Admin Center.

What's changing?

The new desktop editor will only be used in conjunction with the new Admin Center and articles that have been migrated to the new article format. The legacy Desktop Editor will remain available until customers are fully transitioned to the new Admin Center.

What should I do in the meantime?

No action is needed right now. Continue using the Desktop Editor as you normally would. When the new desktop application is ready and your account is transitioned to the new Admin Center, ScreenSteps will provide guidance on next steps.
