Creating a table from a tab-delimited text file

In the desktop editor you can import a tab delimited file that will be converted into a table.

The tab delimited file needs to be encoded as UTF-8.

Select Import from the File menu

Select the file containing the tab-delimited data

The data will be imported and a table element will be added to your article.

Remember that the data needs to be UTF-8 encoded.

Specify that the first row is a Header

If the first row of the data that you imported is a header then you can easily make that change after importing.

  1. Begin by clicking anywhere on the table to enter editing mode.
  1. Next, click inside one of the columns of the first row and click the H button in the tools palette that appears.
  1. The first row will be converted to a header.
