How to Download and Install the ScreenSteps Desktop Editor

To download the desktop editor, you need the following items:

  • An active ScreenSteps account
  • A user account with an Admin or a Contributor role

Run the installer

When you run the ScreenSteps installer you will be asked to give permission to run the installer. Click Yes.

Destination Folder

The default destination folder will be ScreenSteps 4.

Launch ScreenSteps

After installation is complete you can launch ScreenSteps.

Download the ScreenSteps desktop editor

Open the file and agree to terms

Open the DMG file you downloaded.

Add ScreenSteps to your Applications

If you have an older version of ScreenSteps installed you will be asked to replace the existing version.

Connect the Desktop Editor to your account

When you first launch the ScreenSteps desktop editor, you will be prompted to enter you ScreenSteps account name (not your username).

Enter your name and click Next.

Next your default web browser will open and you will be taken to your ScreenSteps account. If you are not already logged in then you will be prompted to do so.

Your login screen may look different if your company is using Single Sign-On. Just enter your username and password as you normally would and click the button that is the Log In equivalent.

Connect to Desktop

You will then be presented with the App connection screen. Make sure you are logged in as the correct user and then click the Connect to Desktop button.

Next you will see the Success screen. At this point you can close the browser tab.

Open Web Browser App

Once you have successfully logged in you will see this screen. You can now return to the ScreenSteps web browser application to locate an article that you want to edit.
