"Unable to initialize spell checking library" error

Updated on

If you see an error when launching ScreenSteps on Windows that begins with "Unable to initialize spell checking library" then your operating system is most likely missing some Microsoft files that ScreenSteps requires in order to run.

To fix the issue, visit https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0 and download the x86 version of the Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019 redistributable.
